Conte makes big call ahead of Chelsea v Liverpool clash
Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte, has confirmed that he will hand a second debut to Brazilian defender David Luiz when his side play hosts to Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool on Friday night.
The Brazil international made the switch back to Stamford Bridge from Paris Saint Germain on Deadline Day but is yet to play his first game since his return to the Premier League.
That said, the 29-year-old, who was part of the Chelsea side that won the Champions League in 2012, has only missed one Blues game, as there was an international break immediately after his move.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Conte said: “Tomorrow David Luiz will play for the first time with us,”
“We are confident. We expect him to play well. We know he is a good player. We are working to get him in the best condition to get the best out of him.
“We need him against Liverpool…He has worked hard these days. I am confident he will do well.”
The former Benfica man, who made 142 appearances for the South London side during his first spell at the club, scoring on 12 occasions, will come into the first team for captain John Terry, who picked up an injury in the controversial draw against Swansea on Sunday.
