Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s Relationship ‘Always Bound by Love’
Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have reached a divorce settlement.
“Our relationship was intensely passionate and at times volatile, but always bound by love,” read the joint statement released by the pair on Aug. 16. “There was never an intent of physical or emotional harm. Neither party has made false accusations for financial gains.”
The statement continues: “Amber wishes the best for Johnny in the future. Amber will be donating financial proceeds from the divorce to a charity. There will be no further public statements about this matter.”
In the divorce settlement, Heard reportedly will receive a multi-million payout.
“She got a great monetary settlement, but it’s not about money,” a source told the New York Daily News.
In addition, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Carl Moor terminated Heard’s temporary restraining order against Depp.
Heard filed for divorce from Depp in May after only 460 days of marriage, citing “irreconcilable differences.” Since the news of the couple’s separation, the pair have been entangled in a web of controversy, particularly domestic violence allegations by Heard against Depp.
On May 27, Heard appeared in court with a bruised face—allegedly inflicted by Depp—and was granted a temporary restraining order. She stated that Depp’s abuse of alcohol is the cause of his violent outbursts, and a judge ordered the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star to stay 100 yards away from Heard.
In a leaked video obtained by TMZ on Aug. 12, footage shows Depp “in their kitchen, throwing a wine bottle and glass,” according to the website.
Depp and his representatives have always denied the abuse allegations.
Depp and Heard began dating in 2011 when the pair met on the set of “The Rum Diary” and would later marry in two ceremonies—once at their West Hollywood home, and then again in a beach ceremony in the Bahamas, both in February of 2015.
The couple share no children.
