The 22-year-old was mooted as a potential Deadline Day addition for the Red Devils, who had already landed Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Paul Pogba.
United’s Antonio Valencia has been, successfully, playing as a wing-back as their new manager searches for more depth in the right back slot.
The former Real Madrid loanee, who has 137 Monaco appearances under his belt, has put pen to paper on a new deal will take him through to 2021.
The new contract, however, may not stand in the way for the former Chelsea boss and the Old Trafford hierarchy in their pursuit of the defender, they may just have to stump up a fair bit more to seal a move, which shouldn’t be a problem.
